Putting Kids First in the State Budget
Smart investments in Pennsylvania’s children will benefit the entire Commonwealth. In our advocacy work, we are requesting legislators prioritize these investments in the final 2019-20 state budget:
- $50 million increase for pre-k funding, which would serve an additional 5,500 kids
- $50 million increase for child care
- $5 million increase for home visiting, which would serve 800 additional families
- $168 million increase in basic education funding
- $50 million increase in special education funding
- $10 million increase for career and technical education funding, driven through the CTC subsidy
If these budget requests are fulfilled, the FY 2019-20 state budget will benefit a greater number of Pennsylvania’s 2.8 million children.
