Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children Tells Congress to Reverse the Cuts. Give Pennsylvania Families Breathing Room.

HARRISBURG (Nov. 5, 2026) – On Tuesday, Pennsylvanians went to the polls to elect leaders who will help shape the policies and priorities affecting children and families across the Commonwealth. In response to the election results, Kari King, President and CEO of Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children, released the following statement:

“Reversing the Medicaid and SNAP cuts enacted in H.R. 1, commonly known as the One Big Beautiful Bill, must be the new Congress’s first order of business.  Across party lines, voters have made clear that the cost of living is a priority. Pennsylvania’s newly elected and returning members of Congress have a mandate to ease the pressure on family budgets, and reversing these cuts is an immediate way to act on it.

“As of September 2026, nearly 1.2 million Pennsylvania children rely on Medicaid, and more than 667,000 children depend on SNAP. PPC estimates the state could lose $54.8 billion in federal Medicaid and SNAP funding by 2034. Some Pennsylvania families are already feeling the effects of SNAP restrictions. With new Medicaid work reporting requirements and more frequent eligibility checks for certain adults set to begin in January, families will continue to feel the effects of more administrative red tape. Families, journalists and lawmakers can use PPC’s H.R. 1 mapping tool to see how federal cuts could affect their communities.

“We urge Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation to work across party lines to restore Medicaid and SNAP funding and protect families’ access to the health coverage and nutrition they need to thrive. Families need relief now.”
